Turun Kaakelitehdas, founded in 1874, was the largest manufacturer of tiled stoves in Finland. Only a few original miniature models of the extensive collection of the tile factory have survived.

The designer of the tile stove No. 187, Nils Wasastjerna, had gained fame as the interior designer of the academic bookstore located in the Geselius-Lindgren-Saarinen Pohjola building in 1900. Wasastjerna signed a watercolor illustration of this completed tile stove with the initials NW in October 1903.
