Oy Boman Ab (historically N. Bomans Ångsnickeri) was one of Finlands's oldest, largest and most prestigious luxury furniture manufacturers, operating from 1871 until 1967.
Master carpenter Nikolai Boman (1845–1923) founded the carpentry workshop in Turku, Finland, in 1871. It grew into Finland's leading high-quality furniture factory, celebrated for skilled cabinetmakers, luxury furniture sets, and complete interior fittings.
Nikolai’s son, Carl-Johan Boman (1883–1969)—who studied interior and furniture design in Berlin—took over leadership of the drawing office in 1906 and served as managing director from 1920 to 1955.
Boman crafted custom furnishings for prominent locations, including the Presidential Summer Residence Kultaranta, the Prime Minister's official residence, Jean Sibelius's home Ainola, and numerous embassies.
The company worked with renowned Finnish designers and architects like Gunnel Nyman and Lisa Johansson-Pape, transitioning gracefully toward functionalist and Scandinavian modern styles.
Boman participated in major international exhibitions and was appointed a royal warrant holder as a supplier to the Swedish royal court in 1925.
